Dolly Parton's Imagination Library

Let's put books into the hands of Wilsonville’s children. Through a program called the Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, the Library is collaborating with the Kiwanis Club of Wilsonville to mail age appropriate new books to every child under the age of 5 in Wilsonville. The program encourages children to read by making reading, literally, a gift. And children who are enrolled in the program enter school better prepared to learn and read.

As a partner, the Library is working to increase the program’s effectiveness by providing early literacy messages to enrolled families. A parent is a child's first teacher; and through the Imagination Library and the Library's outreach to families, parents will have tools they need to make their children successful in school and life.

During the program's first year more than 420 children were signed up to receive books, and 60 children have already graduated. Look out Kindergarten, here they come!

The Foundation provides significant direct support to this amazing program, and will be funding the Library’s outreach to families who are enrolled in the program.
